A study was recently conducted amongst the users watching videos on the site mefeedia.com. The study was conducted on the basis of video usage for the past 6 months. HTML5 videos had a 70% decrease in bounce rate and the time spent watching HTML5 videos was higher than others by 25%.
The findings of the study are not surprising. HTML5 videos are newer and are hence of a higher quality. Also, users who watch HTML5 videos with its compatible technology are heavy consumers of media. They are more engaged with the various aspects of the Web and have better access and are more tech-savvy. HTML5 also has a better performance level on other platforms apart from Windows like Linux, OSX, Ubuntu and mobile smartphones.
