Google Goggles is an experimental visual search app for Android. The prototype of this app was exhibited by Eric Schmidt, Google CEO, at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona. This mobile application translates text that is captured in images. Currently the application only carries out German to English translations. In simple terms it may be said that Google Goggles establishes a connection between the phone's camera and the optical character recognition engine. Once this is done the image is recognized as text and Google Translate carries out the translation process. This app would be extremely useful for travelers who need quick translation of street signs, menus, transit information, and so on. Google has not made any announcement about the release of this app.Watch the prototype in action at Mashable.
