The second edition of the Web Spiders Football League was bigger, better, faster and a lot more fun!Glittering trophies, heaps of adulation and the oh-so-coveted "Champions" tag were up for grabs as four teams from the Web Spiders family competed in this annual affair. Three-40 minute matches would decide the best team, though all participants were winners in their own right. The teams:

• United Brute Force
• Gang of Demons
• Spartans
• Blasting Blazers

24 August may have been just another lazy Saturday for some but not the contenders as they prepared for the face-offs along with all the other Spiders who were present to cheer for their favorite teams. Assembly was sharp at 9:00 am with the kick-off at 9:30.The format was simple - two knockout matches and one final draw for glory. And what an exhilarating day of football it was. 4 evenly matched teams, 3 closely fought games and 1 deserving Champion.

The fixture:

• 1st Match: Gang of Demons vs Blasting Blazers
• 2nd Match: Spartans vs United Brute Force
• Final: Winner of Match 1 vs Winner of Match 2

Unlike last year, the 2013 tourney witnessed a bright, sunny day right from the offset with the rain gods taking a break. Members of the management were present to boost the morale of the teams, together with the project managers, web engineers, content developers, and digital media executives.The first match saw the Gang of Demons coming out on top with a 2-0 win over Blasting Blazers. United Brute Force got the better of Spartans in the second knockout with a 2-1 scoreline.To keep the players and the audience energized, there were refreshments galore in the form of energy drinks. Though it was a hot and humid day, spirits were high as all eyes were on the final match between the Gang of Demons and United Brute Force.And what a match it turned out to be; it was worthy of a final. There was a lot of dribbling, shooting, passing and kicking on show as the final whistle blew with the scores tied at 1-1. It was time for the tie-breaker, with all of us preparing for a nail-biting finish.United Brute Force showed what they were made of and gave the Gang of Demons a run for their money. But the Gang of Demons held on to their nerves till the end and came out victorious (by yermiyayeva). The penalty shootout saw the Gang of Demons scoring 3 goals to United Brute Force's 1.Trophies were handed out to the champion and runners-up trophies amidst a lot of revelry. The award ceremony was followed by a scrumptious lunch and an assortment of beverages. Everyone went home a winner, expecting to come back again next year for more excitement!
