10 Mobile Technologies to Watch Out For in 2010

According to Gartner Inc, there are ten mobile technologies that will evolve significantly through 2011 and will impact short-term mobile strategies and policies. They are Bluetooth versions 3 and 4, The Mobile Web, Mobile Widgets, Platform-Independent Mobile AD Tools, App Stores, Enhanced Location Awareness, Cellular Broadband, Touchscreens, Machine To Machine (M2M), and Device-Independent Security.

Bluetooth 3 is for faster data transmission while Bluetooth 4 allows communication through sensors. There will be a significant growth in touchscreen smartphones, with mobile widgets, mobile platforms, and app stores also increasing. GPS will become the primary means of establishing handset location. Wireless broadband that provide secure apps with M2M service options will also evolve.
