Giving Back

WS has designed its own framework when it comes to making a difference to the society it inhabits. The company commits to a 1/1 pledge where the company donates 1% of its profits and 1% of the paid time of its employees towards charitable causes.

This is a humble way of giving back and we hope to do much more as we continue to grow and become aware of the socio-economic issues around us.

Always be giving

WS has slowly begun replacing mindless consumerism with activities that can immediately benefit those in need. No deed is considered too small.

Some of our recent initiatives included giving books on Saraswati Puja (the Goddess of Learning) and giving to causes that worked for women on Women's Day or just setting up internal collection points for newspapers or food products.

As a technology company, WS actively contributes time and services to causes that we are closely related to. One of the projects close to our heart is the Vipassana Research Institute which we support by way of technology services. More information can be found about VRI here.

Vipassana Research Institute (VRI)

VRI is one of the world's largest centres for the practice of Vipassana meditation, offering ongoing 10-day courses, and serving up to 600 people at a time throughout the year. VRI also works on translating and publishing Pali texts (the classical language in which Gautam Buddha taught), and researches into the application of Vipassana in daily life.

Samaritan Help Mission

Samaritan Help Mission (SHM) is a voluntary, not for profit organisation based in Tikipara slum of Howrah (West Bengal) in India. SHM works for the emancipation and empowerment of poor children of the area, who have previously been involved in various nefarious activities, as well as local women, who lack opportunities to join the mainstream, through education and vocational training.

Parivaar is a humanitarian service organisation, based in 24 Parganas (S), West Bengal, and at present is chiefly working for total care and overall development of children from categories like orphans, girl children highly vulnerable to exploitation, victimisation, and trafficking, street children, abandoned children, extremely impoverished children from tribal areas and other such highly vulnerable children.

Akshay Patra

Close to 13.5 million underprivileged children in India are into child labour. Akshaya Patra helps underprivileged children by providing them with a healthy, balanced meal that they would otherwise have to work for. The meal is an incentive for them to continue their education. It helps reduce the dropout rate to an enormous extent and increases classroom attendance.
