TM Forum is a not-for-profit industry association known for conducting independent market research across different business sectors. They also publish reports to help business organizations improve the quality of services they offer to clients. TM Forum needed a native iPad app, which would serve dual purposes of a report library and a reader application. Reports uploaded by the client on the server would be fetched by the app, using APIs. The users will be able to download the reports from the app making it a library of reports resembling the bookshelf on iOS. The app also needed to have a secure interface, through which TM Forum users (registered members and non-members) would be able to access the reports and HTML channel contents by using their login credentials.
Web Spiders developed the native iPad app according to TM Forums requirements, based on the iOS 4.0 platform, using Apple's XCode 4.4. The app, capable of supporting iOS 4.0 (and later versions), showcases TM Forums selected reports and channel contents to both registered members and non-members. Reports can be downloaded in PDF format from the massive repository of TM Forum according to the member's requirements. Once the user downloads the required reports from the app, he or she will be able to view those reports using a third party open source PDF reader from the native application. The users can also view Channel contents in HTML format from the app, through web browsers.
If the user is a non-member, then he (or she) will be able to download only sample reports and have restricted access to view only few of the full version reports. The non-member should become a registered member by visiting tmforum.org to access all the full version of the reports. The native application has distinct features like keyword search, sorting of reports on date, title, author, presenting the reports in GRID and LIST view format and filtering the reports based on different categories present. The app also helps the user to read the already downloaded documents when he is offline.
