Client : Thomas Publishing
Opportunity:
The client’s site had online content of a renowned Logistics magazine. The storage
was in the form of flat files, which made it difficult for the editors of the magazine
to maintain and edit the content. Web Spiders had to build a system using Ektron
CMS (Content Management System) which would allow the editors to easily add new
content, as well as update the existing contents on the site. The project also involved
the redesigning of the user interface according to the specifications of the client.
Solution:
The Ektron framework was used to store not only the data of all the articles appearing
in the online magazine, but also the important information regarding the Logistics
companies. Web Spiders developed the front-end pages of the site in accordance with
the Look-and-Feel Design criteria of the client. These were seamlessly integrated
in order to facilitate the retrieval of required information from the Ektron framework.
Ektron was also used to provide out of the box functionality for user management.
The user management was achieved with the help of Ektron Membership controls, complex
content search, and by organizing the different types of content in folders. This
enabled editors to easily control the content appearing in the pages, and also ensured
that the regular users and readers of the online magazine issues and articles could
be kept up to date.
