Client: Manchester Metropolitan University, UK
Opportunity:
Multimedia Marketing is a company specializing in producing tutorials on Sales &
Marketing. The Manchester University is a shareholder in this company and the directors
are eminent speakers on forums relating to Sales & Marketing. As a reference IBM
uses their CD-based tutorials as a standard across the organization. With the increased
importance of the WWW, it had become imperative for the company to provide their
tutorials through a browser-based interface. The application would be both for usage
as an ASP model and for deployment on the Intranet of a customer. In fact the latter
had become a pressing demand from IBM.
Solution:
Web Spiders web-enabled the entire tutorial set. The deployment for both Content
Management and Learning Management was through "Lotus Learning Space". The actual
content conversion from CD-based to web-based was done using Flash. Amongst other
challenges, the central challenge was to optimize the end product for the web. The
CD version had big-sized files and the implementation structure was inherently based
for the Desktop. The conversion process thus required the Web Spiders' team required
members of multiple skills - from legacy systems to web engineers to creative designers.
This client has been very pleased with the work both in terms of quality and delivery
schedule.
Technology:
Flash, Photoshop, Sound Forge and Lotus Learning Space.
